Neighbors News 5/22/2006
Neighbors,
Greetings neighbors! I trust you’re well and enjoying the sunshine. During the past few weeks the Leadership Team has been working on a mission statement and we finally came up with one. The summary goes like this: We host Neighborhood Socials to bring the people of Jamaica Plain together and Community Organizing Events to keeps us together to build our community and make a difference by creating and participating in Social Groups and Community Projects. Simply put we Socialize, Organize, and Make a Difference. To read the full mission statement click here. Email back to let us know what you think.
We are very excited to invite you, your neighbors, and anyone who would like to attend to our next Community Organizing Event at the Milky Way. It will be held Wednesday June 7th from 7:00 to 9:00 PM. Come meet your neighbors, learn about, lead or participate in a Social Group or Community Project. Also, Mayor Menino is tentatively scheduled stop in and say hello. Please help promote and lend a hand at the event. We want to make the best impression we can for the Mayor. We are planning on going for funding or having our community building model incorporated into other programs. Please read to learn how to help make this happen!.
Do you have a Social Group or Community Project idea you would like to introduce at our next meeting? Please email Paul Daigle. He and Allison will prepare you for the event.

Help build the NFN community:
What people say about participating in Neighbors for Neighbors is how much they enjoy meeting their neighbors and knowing they are making a difference here in JP. My personal favorite thing to do is to do house flyering. Each time we got out we meet great people who are so appreciative of the time we took to reach out to them. Folks who help out at the events say appreciate the chance to meet so many people as they come through to door or take downs people contact information. Read on for your chance to get involved and make a difference:

House Flyering:
Saturday June 3d, Sunday June 4th, and Monday June 5th. So far this year we have taken it easy on the House Flyering. Many folks moved in and out of the neighborhood and given high turnout for the Dogwood (172 people) as a result from 3 hours of house flyering - it is time again to blanket the town. Our goal is for every street that a member lives on to be flyered. Spend 30 minutes and share Neighbors for Neighbors with your neighbors by taping one flyer to your neighbor’s front doors. Please email back to sign up.
We print the flyers; all you need is a smile, some tape, and 30 minutes. Street captains please check in to confirm if you can do your street.
I would love some help managing all the Street Flyer volunteers. Got a few extra hours? Please email back. You can also download the flyer and print it yourself. Please print one side English one side Spanish.
