Volunteers & interns needed at Military Families Speak Out

Military Families Speak Out (MFSO), a nationwide grassroots organization of people opposed to the war in Iraq who have relatives or loved ones in the military, is seeking interns for the fall semester to work in our Boston, MA office.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone to gain first-hand professional experience in a dynamic non-profit setting while making an important contribution to social change work.

Responsibilities include assisting in the following areas:

Organizing– Making contact with established and forming MFSO chapters, coordinating MFSO campaigns, and developing campaign materials as directed.
Media/Communications – Identifying and opportunities and fielding requests for MFSO members to communicate in public or with the press, promoting MFSO in blogs.
Office Assistance– day to day administrative tasks such as data entry, order processing, filing, and mailings.

Additionally, we encourage interns to work on a variety of independent projects that best utilize their interests and skills.

Requirements:
Belief in the MFSO mission opposing the Iraq war.
Ability to multitask and pay attention to detail.
Ability to work independently and in a team setting
Sense of humor and enthusiasm
Sensitivity to confidential information.
Previous experience in a nonprofit environment preferred but not necessary

Hours are 10-20 hour per week (hours and start date are flexible). This is an unpaid position. School and course credit available. The office is conveniently located near the Orange T Line.
