Room for rent in Jamaica Plain one block from Stonybrook/Cityfeed with lots of amenities - $613

Published by admin under Main Page

Hi,

I’m seeking a roommate to share my 2+ bedroom in Jamaica Plain. The rent does not include utilities.

- 2 bedrooms, plus one extra, large room which would be yours
- large eat-in kitchen with dishwasher
- pantry with washer and dryer
- sunny, nice size living room
- garden space
- off-street parking

The available bedroom has a large walk-in closet. In addition to this bedroom, you would also get an extra, big room with a closet. It’s a very nice spacious apartment in a friendly and safe neighborhood. I consider myself to be friendly, considerate and clean and seek the same in my roommate. While I’m not looking for a new best friend, people interested in having a home and connected environment when time permits is important to me. Sharing rent helps, but I’m also looking for a roommate because I like living with people! Ideally, I’d like to live with a female who is 30+ years old. No pets, please. Thanks.

Best,

Theresa

October 4th - Aviva Chomsky on Myths about Immigration

Thursday, October 4th
“21 Myths About Immigration” with Aviva Chomsky at the Jamaica Plain Forum

With walls being built on our borders and heated debate this summer around the Immigration Reform Bill, our nation acts as if immigrants destroy the social, economic and cultural fabric of the United States.

However, according to Aviva Chomsky, the current immigration debate is “rife with myths, stereotypes and unquestioned assumptions” about the history of immigration and how American society, economy and laws function.  Additionally, she argues that the historical structures that have privileged white people in the U.S. continue to shape social realities and immigration policy today.  Chomsky is an immigrants’ rights activist, professor of history at Salem State College, and author of the new book “They Take Our Jobs: Twenty Other Myths About Immigration.”

Please come and share stories of how recent immigration policy has impacted the Jamaica Plain community.

October 13 - JP Unplugged Presents Rose Polenzani

Folk concert featuring singer/songwriter Rose Polenzani with opener Jess Yoakum in the historic Loring-Greenough House in the heart of Jamaica Plain

JP Unplugged presents a concert by Somerville singer/songwriter extraordinaire ROSE POLENZANI on Saturday October 13 at the historic Loring-Greenough House, 12 South Street, Jamaica Plain. The concert will begin at 8 PM and admission is $10. Opening the concert will be singer/songwriter (and JP Unplugged founding member) Jess Yoakum. For reservations call 857-928-5417 or email reservations@jpunplugged.org. Advance reservations strongly suggested. Please arrive by 7:45 to claim your reservation.

JP Unplugged is a concert series dedicated to presenting quality live acoustic music in an intimate listening environment in Jamaica Plain. It is organized by Boston-based singer/songwriters and acoustic music supporters who believe both the community and its artists benefit when the music is the focus. JP Unplugged is dedicated to presenting both nationally known and local artists to the Jamaica Plain community.

Originally from Chicago and now living in Somerville, ROSE POLENZANI made her debut at the 1998 Newport and Lilith Fair Festivals, and has been writing and touring ever since. She has released five albums to date; two on indie label Demon Records, two on her own, and one on Rykodisk, as a member of Voices on the Verge, alongside Jess Klein, Erin McKeown, and Beth Amsel. Rose’s newest record August has been inspiring the poetic sensibilities of the world’s critics. “Evocative stories that one wants to curl up with, like a cherished book,” says Time Out New York. “Like armchair travel through a newly-carved glacial valley,” says UK critic Alan Pedder. A review of her November, 2005 residency at Lizard Lounge read: “You don’t just listen to Rose, she happens to you.” If all the hype is true, it’s not as if she hasn’t earned it.

Hailing from Memphis, Tennessee and now based in Jamaica Plain, singer, songwriter, and guitarist JESS YOAKUM has intrigued audiences in all the places her gypsy life has taken her. From Massachusetts, New Mexico and Oregon to Ecuador, El Salvador and Mexico, Jess has entertained in a style described as “Patty Griffin joined forces with the Sundays.” (Heather Corcoran, Coffeehouse Tour)

Following with admiration in the footsteps of Patty Griffin, Yoakum currently performs in Boston as a solo, acoustic guitarist and singer, but can also be found playing with the accompaniment of other local musicians and with local bluegrass band Jaded Mandolin. Her debut, self-titled CD, was nominated for Outmusic’s Outstanding Debut Album of the Year in 2005. With a textured, mature vocal style and a playful yet commanding stage presence, Yoakum’s audiences are treated to captivatingly bold lyrics that dare to reach beyond the comfort zone.

The Loring-Greenough House, built in 1760, is listed in the National Register of Historic Places and has been a historic house museum since 1926. Its beautiful period decor and intimate size make it an ideal setting for acoustic music.
